Prof. Dr. Marylyn Addo is the special guest of honor for the 11th African Youth Education Awards (AYEA) scheduled to take place on Saturday, the 4th of November 2023. The event will be held at the Chambers of Commerce in Hamburg.

Prof. Addo holds the position of Professor of Medicine at the University of Hamburg and serves as the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).

She was recently honored with the "Bundesverdienstkreuz," the Cross of Merit on Ribbon, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the field of medical and scientific research in infectious diseases, including HIV, Ebola, and COVID-19. Additionally, she has been acknowledged for her remarkable social commitment.

The AYE Awards is an initiative of TopAfric e.V. This prestigious event has been held annually since 2011, with the primary objective of recognizing and honoring African trainees and students for their exceptional academic achievements.

During the event, Professor Dr. Marylyn Addo will be available to answer questions from both students and the general public.

The updated nomination criteria for AYEA are as follows:
• Completion of vocational training.
• Attainment of a Bachelor's degree.
• Attainment of a Master's degree.
• Attainment of a doctoral degree.
