The Pros and Cons of Valentine Day Celebration

News

Valentine's Day, the much-anticipated celebration of love, falls on the 14th of February every year. It is a day where couples, friends, and family members come together to express their affection and appreciation for one another. However, my good friends Ama and Kwame have opposing opinions about this special day.

Kwame, being a man, strongly dislikes the celebrations surrounding Valentine's Day. He believes that it is excessively hyped and should be discouraged. In his perspective, this day puts an unnecessary financial burden on men. The pressure of buying gifts, planning extravagant dates, and fulfilling societal expectations becomes overwhelming. Kwame thinks that love should be celebrated everyday rather than on one designated day.

On the other hand, Ama, a woman with a romantic soul, loves Valentine's Day. She finds it to be a wonderful opportunity for men to demonstrate their love and affection towards their partners. Ama believes that this day provides a platform for men to go the extra mile in expressing their emotions. It is a moment to shower their loved ones with gifts that symbolize their adoration. Ama enjoys the surprise and effort that her partner puts into making this day special for her.

While Kwame and Ama may have different perspectives, both opinions are valid. Valentine's Day can be seen as a commercialized holiday that puts unnecessary pressure on individuals to demonstrate their love through materialistic means. On the other hand, it can also be viewed as a beautiful occasion to cherish and celebrate the bond between two people.

Whether you resonate with Kwame or Ama, it is important to remember that love should not be confined to a single day. Acts of love and affection should be expressed consistently throughout the year, not just on Valentine's Day. It is the small gestures, like a heartfelt note or a surprise date night, that truly make a relationship special.

At the end of the day, the true essence of Valentine's Day lies in the love and appreciation we show to those who hold a special place in our hearts. So, let us celebrate love everyday, not just demanding gifts and putting pressure on men.
