Resisting Right-Wing Extremism -The Next Five Years

News

Following the federal elections on 23.02.2025, we are reaching out to all those dedicated to anti-racism, decolonization, and the support of marginalized minorities with a specific concern/project. The election campaign and its outcome highlight, among other things, that the next five years will be critical in determining whether the fight against political right-wing extremism and deeply rooted racism will be won or lost.

How will our lives change if the far-right AfD wins the next elections in five years and becomes part of the German government? What dangers will we face in our everyday lives? What structural disadvantages will we experience at the judicial, legislative, and executive levels? How many of us will leave the country? What will life be like for those who must or choose to stay? What will the reality be for our children? How will the situation unfold for those among us who are particularly disadvantaged?

The danger that a right-wing conservative government under Chancellor Merz will pave the way for Alice Weidel to become Chancellor in five years is very real. How can we actively participate in the fight against this horrifying scenario with all our means and possibilities? How can we effectively raise awareness in this country in our favor? How can we make society realize that the narratives against us are harmful to everyone in Germany?

A group of people is discussing a campaign aimed at making German society recognize not only that the migrant community belongs to Germany, but that Germany cannot survive without it. The campaign particularly seeks to dismantle right-wing and bourgeois narratives that frame migration as a deficit and falsely portray it as the cause of Germany’s many crises.

The idea is for as many of us as possible to collectively stop working on specific days determined by us, thereby bringing the country to a standstill. This action should make everyone in Germany recognize who we truly are, what we contribute daily, how valuable our work is, the crucial and positive role migration plays, and that we are not only part of Germany but also high performers and indispensable co-creators.

What do you think of this idea? What pros and cons, ideas, feelings, and thoughts do you have?

In deepest solidarity, respect, and connection to all of you.
