Born 31 January 1988 in Kiel, is a German footballer of Nigerian descent. He plays for 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan from Hamburger SV.

Career
The midfielder who can also play as a striker started playing football at TuS Mettenhof. After that he played at FC Kilia Kiel. In the summer of 2002 he signed for the city rivals of FC Kilia Kiel, Holstein Kiel.

At the beginning of the 2004–05 season he moved on to the Hamburger SV youth system, and in 2006 he was promoted to the second team. In the 2007–08 season he became part of the professional pool of the Hamburger SV. On December 20 2007 he made his debut in the Bundesliga in the game between Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart when he came on for David Jarolim. He joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan for the 2008–09 season and was loaned for another season on 01 July 2009.

International
Sidney Sam is a German youth national player. He played nine times for the German U-19 National Team and four for the U-20.
