African best in German League
African footballers in the Bundesliga have been doing extremely well since the likes of Daniel Amokachie, Anthony Yeboah JJ Okocha, and many more, arrived in Germany over two decades.  Does it wealth to know how current crop of African footballers are doing in recent years?  Africaonline24.com gave the chance to African football fans in the metropolitan area to express their gratitude toward the performances of the old and the young stars through voting.

The vote took place between August and December 2009.  Total number of votes after voting period was 200.  The players whom Africaonline24.com nominated for the final voting process are Jonathan Pitriopa, Gerald Asamoah, Chinedu Obasi, Djemba Ba, Mohammed Zidane, Pablo Thiam, Jerome Boateng and Mimoun Azouagh

Jerome Boateng emerged as the winner of the polls scoring 74 out of the total votes of 200. This represents 37% of the vote cast.
He won the trophy yet to be presented as the African Sports personality of the year 2009.  No wonder, he won the hearts of many African football fans especially Ghanaians. Jero is doing wonderful in both club and national level. It is not surprise that Ghana tried all that they could to bring this talented player to their already strong national team.  Prior to his inclusion into the European Giant, he was among the Under 20 European Championship team before drafted into the German senior national team.

Gerald Asamoah emerged the surprise runner up. Gerald has achieved a lot in his carrier and deserved to be there. He was the first Black African origin to get a call to the Germany senior national team. This alone could not make him the round up. Gerald has achieved a lot with Hannover 96 before moving to Schalker in 1999. Even though he never played for any of the Ghanaian national teams, he still holds himself aligned to Ghana his native country. Gerald got 39 of the total votes representing 19.5%

Chinedu is another player to get grips of his show. As talented as any other African young star, Edu popularly called, is from Enugu, Nigeria, and currently playing for 1899 Hoffenheim. He has already spent sometime in Norwegian premier league before moving to Bundesliga.  He has capped 15 times for the Super Green Eagles and uncounted successful junior teams appearances. Edu got 28 of the total votes which represents 14% of the votes.

Djemba Ba got 26 votes which allowed him to gain 13% of the overall votes. Mohammed Zidane, on the other hand, got 17 out of the total votes and that represents 8.5%.  Mohammed is an Egyptian who currently plays for Borrusia Dortmund. Ahmed (short) has 27 capped and 7 goals in his belt. Zidane has played for the European giants like FC Midtjyland, FC Hamburg, Werder Bremen, and Mainz. The 27 year old Egyptian has had a lot of controversies over the years but still rated one of the finest players Egypt has produced and keep an eye on him in this African Cup of Nations tournament which will be hosted by the Angolians.

Jonathan Patriopa and Pablo Thiam got 6 votes each representing 3% of the number of votes casted. Pablo Thiam, though no longer playing active football, was selected for the finals. He was the assistant manager with Wolfsburg the current Bundesliga Champions. Pablo started his carrier very well and played for the likes of FC Köln, FC Stuttgart and Bayern Müchen. He has also been capped for 25 times for the Guinea National.

Very little has been heard about Mimoun Azouga, the 26 year Morrocan midfelder currently playing for Bochum. Mimoun got 4 votes out of the 200 voters and this Represents 2% of the total votes. Mimoun started his professional carrier in September 2002. He began his carrier from FSV Frankfurt and Eintracht Frankfurt. He has also played for the likes of Mainz 05 and Schalke 04. Azouga has not had the best of his carrier yet due to the fact that he has been on loans for more than 3 times in a short period. This makes it a bit difficult for him to concentrate on his football development.
